Rioja Navarra Wine
The Navarra denomination of origin is being transformed for the better, transforming the ideas people have about wine and this DO,always associated with the production of rosé wines. In addition, a small batch of young white wines fermented in casks made from the Chardonnay strain, is also contributing to this positive change in the Navarra DO.
Navarra now boasts new wineries and new wines, as well as the incorporation of new technologies, new barrels and new varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and the white Chardonnay. There have also been outstanding improvements in the production of classic red wines, with better aging and acidity.
The strains in the Navarra DO are, for red grapes, Mazuelo, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Graciano and Garnacha, and for white grapes, Viura and Small-grain Muscat. Among the types of wine, we can find all kinds of red and rosé wines, young and aged, young whites, white wines with fermentation aging, the liquorous wines, aged mistellas and muscats, and, finally, the cava wine.
